When to give flowers in Germany

Dates and flowers for Valentine’s Day, 8 March, Muttertag and Christmas Eve in Germany. Advice on choosing a gift and agreeing delivery.

German dates and gifts that fit

This selection brings together four occasions observed in Germany with their dates and flower suggestions. You will find Valentine’s Day, International Women’s Day, Mother’s Day and Christmas Eve. It is neither a complete German calendar nor a list of public holidays.

Muttertag falls on the second Sunday in May. Do not use Spain’s or Argentina’s date to plan a gift in Germany. Each guide’s Spanish and English versions keep the same country and dates.

For a gift from a distance confirm what the destination florist can prepare and when the recipient can receive it. On Christmas Eve decide whether to bring a bouquet for the home or a plant they want to care for. Poinsettia needs protection from cold during transport.

8 March focuses on women’s rights. Our floral suggestion is optional and should respect how the recipient wants to approach that date. Follow these occasions in Apple or Google Calendar through an independent German subscription.

Guide to adding Agenda Floral to Apple and Google Calendar

Apple or Google decide when to check for updates. We cannot guarantee that changes appear immediately. Importing the file gives you a copy that does not receive our future corrections. Importing again may duplicate events. We do not add alarms, although your calendar may apply its own alerts.

Occasions in other countries

Celebrations can fall on different dates in each country. Check the calendar for the place where the occasion is celebrated before planning a gift.

How we put these guides together

We consult institutional sources to check dates and customs. For plant facts, we use horticultural sources. Our gift ideas start with each flower’s appearance and the recipient’s taste. A shop link documents a particular offer. It does not prove that a flower is popular or part of a tradition. We keep adding to this selection rather than claiming to cover every species.
