Which flowers to give for Easter in Germany

Germany · Nationwide

For an Easter visit in Germany, we suggest yellow daffodils if your hosts enjoy that colour. Before ordering, ask whether they would like a bouquet to enjoy afterwards or a centrepiece for the meal. The calendar marks Easter Sunday, whose date changes each year. Agree the visit date and a place to receive the flowers separately.

Guide to adding Agenda Floral to Apple and Google Calendar

Apple or Google decide when to check for updates. We cannot guarantee that changes appear immediately. Importing the file gives you a copy that does not receive our future corrections. Importing again may duplicate events. We do not add alarms, although your calendar may apply its own alerts.

The Sunday date and the date of your visit

The EKD explains Easter’s movable date and lists Easter Sunday in 2026, 2027 and 2028. This occasion covers that Sunday, rather than the whole weekend.

If you are meeting on another day, give the full date when ordering. For a religious celebration, check its programme rather than deriving flower arrangements from the calendar. A gift for the home and a contribution to a church need separate agreements.

A home gift or a centrepiece for a shared meal

For a personal gift, ask for a small bouquet with a container and let your hosts decide where to put it. If the table is already decorated, there is no need to change it to fit your flowers.

For a centrepiece, ask how much space will remain between plates and serving dishes. Give the florist that measurement and agree a height that lets people see each other. Check any decorative additions with your hosts first. Yellow is a suggested colour, not a rule for Easter in Germany.

Daffodils alone or in a mixed bouquet

North Rhine-Westphalia’s Chamber of Agriculture calls daffodils Osterglocken and warns that freshly cut stems can affect other flowers.

To mix them, ask whether they have been conditioned and what to do when stems need recutting. A daffodil-only bouquet avoids that decision. Consult the flower profile and care guide before adding fresh stems to an arrangement you have received. The source does not guarantee shop stock or flowering for a delivery date.

Finalising the order and making receipt easier

You could ask for “A yellow daffodil bouquet with a container to take to an Easter meal. The table is already set, so this is a gift for another part of the house. What size can you offer within this budget, and when can I collect it?” For a centrepiece, replace that information with the confirmed table measurements. Ask about alternatives before authorising flower substitutions.

Agree collection or delivery with the shop. A calendar date does not establish opening hours or deliveries that day. On arrival, follow the particular bouquet’s instructions. The RHS recommends clean containers and a cool position away from heat. A card could say “Thank you for having us over these days. We were looking forward to sharing this meal with you.”

Which flowers to choose

We suggest flowers that may suit each occasion. Where a custom is documented, we explain it separately. For a personal gift you can choose another flower if you know the recipient will like it more.

Frequently asked questions

Does the subscription also add Easter Monday?

This occasion records only Easter Sunday as an all-day event. It does not add Monday or the times of services or deliveries. If you are visiting on another day, agree that date separately.

Are daffodils compulsory as Easter gifts?

No. They are our colour suggestion, and you can choose another flower your hosts enjoy. The name Osterglocken does not make a bouquet obligatory for the celebration.

Can I bring a potted plant rather than a bouquet?

Yes, if the recipient wants to care for a plant and has a place for it. Check whether you are buying a flowering plant or bulbs to grow. If you want visible flowers for the meal, ask the seller to confirm its condition.

How we put these guides together

We consult institutional sources to check dates and customs. For plant facts, we use horticultural sources. Our gift ideas start with each flower’s appearance and the recipient’s taste. A shop link documents a particular offer. It does not prove that a flower is popular or part of a tradition. We keep adding to this selection rather than claiming to cover every species.
