Grandparents’ Day in Bavaria: date and flower ideas
Bavaria · Regional
Grandparents’ Day in Bavaria falls on the second Sunday in October. For a visit I would choose a small bouquet of gerberas in their favourite colours. Bring it in a vase and add a card suggesting something to do together. This date applies to Bavaria rather than the whole of Germany.

Apple or Google decide when to check for updates. We cannot guarantee that changes appear immediately. Importing the file gives you a copy that does not receive our future corrections. Importing again may duplicate events. We do not add alarms, although your calendar may apply its own alerts.
When Bavaria celebrates Großelterntag
The celebration was established in 2019 and takes place on the second Sunday in October each year. In 2026 it fell on 11 October. In 2027 it will be on 10 October and in 2028 on 8 October. The date changes because it follows a weekday.
In the German calendar it is labelled Bavaria · Regional. Include it by selecting Bavaria or all German occasions. It will not appear if you choose nationwide occasions only. Spain’s Grandparents’ Day has a separate entry and a different date.
Choosing flowers for a family visit
Gerberas let you put together a bouquet in colours they enjoy. Choose lisianthus if they prefer softer flower shapes. These are gift ideas rather than flowers officially associated with Großelterntag.
For a meal at home I would order a low bouquet that leaves space on the table. If you are eating out, hand it over at home before leaving or after you return. That way the bouquet does not need to come along for the whole outing.
A card with something to do together
You could write: “Thank you for so many afternoons together. On Sunday I’ll bring dessert and we can look through those photos we keep meaning to sort.” A specific plan makes the gift personal without needing a long dedication.
If you cannot visit that day, arrange a delivery with a card and set another date to meet. Give the florist the recipient’s name and full address. The delivery guide can help you organise flowers from a distance.
Which flowers to choose

Gerbera
Main flower in our selectionA small bouquet of gerberas in their favourite colours makes a thoughtful gift for a visit. Ask for a vase if you want to hand it over ready to display.

Lisianthus
Lisianthus is another option if they prefer a bouquet with softer shapes. Choose a size that fits the table without getting in the way during a meal.
