Christmas Day is celebrated on December 25 in the United States. A potted poinsettia can be a gift for the home. For large flowers in an arrangement, consider amaryllis and specify whether you want a plant or cut stems.

With amaryllis, distinguish a potted plant from cut flowers in an arrangement. If the gift needs to be in flower for your gathering, specify how open the flowers should be when ordering. The date alone does not guarantee a bulb will bloom that day.
Preparing the gift before December 25
For a family meal you can bring a low arrangement with a container or send a plant before the gathering. An earlier delivery gives time to find it a place; agree on the day and time without assuming delivery on the 25th.
A card might say “For your home over the holidays. Merry Christmas, with love.” If ordering from abroad, include the address, apartment number and ZIP code. Write the card in the language the recipient enjoys.

Does the calendar move Christmas if December 25 falls on a weekend?
The floral occasion stays on December 25. A substitute federal day off is a separate matter and does not change Christmas Day.
Does the poinsettia have to be red?
Choose another available color if it suits the home. Red is one option; this suggestion does not require a particular color.
