Which flowers to bring to València’s Fallas offering

Agenda Floral · Editorial selection · Reviewed

València · Local

València’s Fallas flower offering takes place on 17 and 18 March. Before ordering, confirm your day, bouquet colour and format with your commission. Carnations appear in historical Junta Central Fallera instructions, but those instructions do not establish the requirements for future editions.

Which days it covers

The Fallas flower offering spans 17 and 18 March. Your participation date depends on your commission and that edition’s programme. This guide shows the full period; it does not reserve a place or assign a time slot. Check the current Junta Central Fallera programme before arranging collection and travel.

Its scope is València · Local: this entry covers the city’s offering. It does not automatically apply its programme to other towns that celebrate Fallas. It is also separate from the Virgin of the Forsaken celebration on the second Sunday in May, which has its own guide.

Which flowers to order for the offering

Carnation is our cover flower because it appears in historical Junta Central Fallera instructions. That document also distinguishes colours by sector. The practical first step is therefore to obtain your commission’s instructions for the edition you are attending, rather than choosing a favourite colour.

We do not give a universal stem count, price or compulsory size. Confirm the species, colour, dimensions and presentation before paying. If a florist proposes a substitute, ask your commission whether it meets the brief; alternatives for a personal gift do not automatically suit a coordinated offering.

What to tell the florist

An original order brief could read: “I am taking part with this commission on this day; these are our instructions. I need to collect the bouquet at this place and time. Can you prepare it and explain how to keep it until we leave?” Share the original instructions to reduce misunderstandings.

Agree the total budget, order confirmation, person collecting and a contact for problems. Establish whether delivery is to a premises, a person or an agreed meeting point; a general city-centre address does not resolve the logistics on its own.

Collection, journey and initial care

We suggest planning the journey once you know your slot, meeting point and access arrangements. Ask how to hold the bouquet without damaging flowers or clothing and how to protect it before carrying it. Give one person responsibility for coordinating a group order so the brief stays complete.

Follow the florist’s care instructions for the actual arrangement. A tied bouquet, a supported arrangement and a potted plant need different treatment. Our linked transport guide helps you plan the journey but does not guarantee a storage time for every bouquet or temperature.

Giving a private gift during Fallas

A private gift for someone who enjoys Fallas can follow their personal taste and include a card. Tell the florist that it is a personal gift, not flowers for the offering’s display. The format, colour and delivery can then be chosen around the recipient.

If you want to participate without belonging to a commission, ask the organisers about the available routes. This guide does not claim that every visitor can join the procession or that bringing flowers guarantees access.

Which flowers to choose

Flower pairings are suggestions from Agenda Floral. Documented customs are explained separately; no occasion requires one particular flower.

Frequently asked questions

Is the offering on 17 or 18 March?

It spans both days. To participate, confirm your commission’s day and time slot in the current programme.

Can I bring carnations in any colour?

Do not assume so. Check your commission’s instructions before ordering. A colour allocation from an earlier year does not confirm this edition’s requirements.

Is it the same as the Virgin of the Forsaken celebration in May?

No. This guide covers the March Fallas offering. The May celebration has a separate entry and does not automatically share its programme.

How many carnations should my bouquet contain?

We do not prescribe a universal number. Ask your commission for the required format and show it to the florist. Stem count alone does not establish suitability.

Can I send flowers without joining the procession?

Ask the organisers or your commission whether that arrangement is accepted and where flowers can be received. Do not order delivery to the route assuming someone will be there to collect it.

How we put these guides together

We check dates and customs against institutional sources, and botanical information against horticultural sources. Gift suggestions consider a flower’s appearance and the recipient’s taste. Commercial references document an offer, not popularity or a tradition. This initial catalogue is a growing editorial selection, not a list of every species.
