Mother’s Day in the US: date and flowers to give
United States · Nationwide
In the United States, Mother’s Day falls on the second Sunday in May. We suggest peonies for their layered petals or carnations for a more compact bouquet. A card can dedicate the gift to your mother or another maternal figure in your life.

Guide to adding Agenda Floral to Apple and Google Calendar
Apple or Google decide when to check for updates. We cannot guarantee that changes appear immediately. Importing the file gives you a copy that does not receive our future corrections. Importing again may duplicate events. We do not add alarms, although your calendar may apply its own alerts.
The US date when ordering from abroad
Mother’s Day falls on a different date each year. It does not follow the first Sunday in May used in Spain and Lithuania or the UK’s Mothering Sunday. Use the US calendar date when arranging flowers for a mother living in the United States.
Write out the day, month and year to avoid ambiguous date abbreviations. Add the address, apartment number if needed and ZIP code. If you have planned brunch or an outing, a home delivery before or after it saves her carrying the flowers all day.
Peonies or carnations with a personal card
A few peonies can fill a small vase visually because of their volume. If they are unavailable for your order, carnations in her favorite colors offer ruffled petals. These are suggestions to choose around her taste.
Order flowers with a vase if you want them ready to display. Your card might say “Mom, thank you for the calls that always bring me closer to home. Love, Alex.” If siblings are giving together, gather your signatures in one message.
Which flowers to choose
Compare flowers to choose the format, colours and care that suit the occasion.
Frequently asked questions
Can I dedicate the gift to my grandmother or stepmother?
Yes. Adapt the card to the maternal figure whose care you want to thank, and choose flowers around her preferences.
Will every florist have peonies that Sunday?
The date does not guarantee a particular flower in stock. Explain the color and size you want, and agree on an alternative when ordering.
