Valentine’s Day in the UK: roses, scented narcissi and delivery

United Kingdom · Nationwide

In the UK Valentine’s Day is celebrated on 14 February. Choose red roses for their appearance or look for scented narcissi grown in Cornwall or the Isles of Scilly if you prefer that alternative. When ordering, distinguish where the flowers were grown from where they will be delivered and size the bouquet around your plans.

Red roses or scented narcissi

If your partner enjoys red roses, order a few stems with a card or a larger bouquet to suit the space where it will go. Choose the size and finish you prefer before deciding on the number.

Scented narcissi from Cornwall or Scilly are another option to enquire about. Early-flowering types of narcissus are grown in those areas. Ask for the type, scent and origin of the flowers available for your date. A bouquet of those narcissi alone lets that choice stand out.

UK delivery does not mean UK-grown flowers

Ordering from a UK florist does not tell you where its flowers were grown. If British origin matters to you, include it in the order and ask which flowers meet that preference. Flexibility over the flower type can help you choose from what is offered.

Planning for Sunday 14 February 2027

In 2027, 14 February falls on Sunday. The occasion keeps that date, while delivery depends on the florist and destination. If you need the bouquet before going out, agree on a suitable window or collection. Collecting on Saturday is another option with advice on keeping the flowers until you meet.

You could order: “I am looking for a bouquet for 14 February 2027 at this postcode. I would like to enquire about British-grown scented narcissi and their origin. What can you offer and what Sunday delivery can you confirm? If there is no service, I would prefer Saturday collection.” Add your budget and size. If you choose red roses, change that preference in the order.

The card could say: “I love how we make even the simplest plans our own. These flowers are for sharing more of them with you.” If ordering from another country, use the full destination address and its local time.

Frequently asked questions

Does British-grown mean that flowers are dispatched from the UK?

British-grown refers to where they were grown. The shop address or dispatch point alone does not establish that. Ask for the origin of the flowers selected for your bouquet.

Are all daffodils the scented alternative from Cornwall or Scilly?

No. This option refers to scented types of narcissus grown in those areas. The name daffodil or narcissus alone does not confirm variety, scent or origin. Check the flowers the supplier offers for your date.
