Flowers for Teachers’ Day in Mexico

Mexico · Nationwide

In Mexico Teachers’ Day is celebrated every 15 May. A small bouquet can accompany a card with a few words of thanks. I would choose alstroemerias for a compact bouquet the teacher can take home, with their name and the class clearly identified.

15 May and the school handover

The Mexican date is 15 May, distinct from World Teachers’ Day on 5 October. To organise the gift, check your school’s calendar and instructions for receiving deliveries.

If there is no school day on the 15th, plan another day. Choose a specific time and recipient so the bouquet is not left waiting in an office.

If the bouquet needs to wait before the handover, keep the stems in water and the container away from heat. Remove leaves below the waterline.

Alstroemerias for a compact format

Alstroemerias have several flowers on each stem. Ask for a compact bouquet that leaves the petals visible. Gerberas are another option for an open shape, while carnations offer ruffled petals.

Describe the finished width including the wrapping. If the flowers will go home at the end of the day, a format easy to carry alongside a folder may be more comfortable than an arrangement intended to stay on the desk.

One teacher’s bouquet and a class card

For one teacher, gather messages in a shared card. The gift has a clear recipient and the class’s thanks can accompany it without adding a bouquet from each pupil.

An order example: “A compact alstroemeria bouquet for teacher Elena Ruiz, class 4B. We would like narrow wrapping she can carry with her teaching materials. The card will be securely attached and visible.”

Your own words to accompany the flowers

Adapt this message to something that happened: “Thank you for teaching us to revise our first attempt. We now see mistakes as part of the work. Class 4B.”

If you write personally, sign with your name and class. To thank several teachers, prepare separate cards recalling something from each class; the words can also be given on their own.

Frequently asked questions

Must the handover be on 15 May?

It can be before or after, depending on the school’s activities and receiving arrangements.

How do I label a bouquet sent to school?

Include the teacher’s full name, the class and the agreed receiving point.

How many stems make a compact bouquet?

Choose by the finished size. Alstroemerias’ flower clusters mean a stem count does not describe their full volume.
