Father’s Day in the UK: date and flowers to give

United Kingdom · Nationwide

In the UK Father’s Day falls on the third Sunday in June. If you want to give flowers, choose a bouquet in colours he enjoys and think about where he will put it. Gerberas are a suggestion for making colour the focus. A simple vase can complete the gift if you want it to arrive ready to display.

The British date and when to give the bouquet

Father’s Day changes date each year because it falls on the third Sunday in June. The British celebration does not follow Spain’s 19 March date or the German date linked to Easter.

If you are spending the day out, give the flowers at home before leaving or collect them on your return. That way, you will not have to carry the bouquet around all day. If you send it, choose a time when your dad will be at home.

Gerberas, sunflowers or irises to suit his taste

Gerberas have open flowers with distinct centres. You could order a colour he enjoys in a compact bouquet for a small table. If you prefer yellow flowers that stand out, compare sunflowers and check the width of the whole arrangement.

Irises offer a different petal shape and can suit a narrower bouquet. Choose by the look of the flowers and the space where he will display them.

Ordering UK flower delivery from abroad

You could explain: “I would like to send gerberas to my dad for Father’s Day. He likes orange and will put them on a small table. I would prefer a compact bouquet with a vase and morning delivery.” Add the full date with the year, the address and the UK postcode. If the house has a name, include it along with access instructions.

For the card you could write: “Dad, these flowers are for all the times you have been there. Happy Father’s Day. With love, Alex.” If siblings are giving together, a message signed by everyone can accompany one bouquet.

Agree on a window in the destination’s local time and check whether the florist delivers that Sunday. If they do not offer that service, you could arrange Saturday delivery.
