What flowers to take to the Saliente shrine in Albox

Albox · Local

Before taking flowers to Our Lady of Saliente, ask what the shrine needs. If it accepts a bouquet without specifying a species, you can order a small one of carnations. The titular feast is on 8 September in Albox and handover arrangements are agreed for each pilgrimage. You can also take part without bringing flowers.

Guide to adding Agenda Floral to Apple and Google Calendar

Apple or Google decide when to check for updates. We cannot guarantee that changes appear immediately. Importing the file gives you a copy that does not receive our future corrections. Importing again may duplicate events. We do not add alarms, although your calendar may apply its own alerts.

8 September and visiting the shrine

The shrine itself confirms its titular feast takes place every 8 September. Agenda Floral records that date under Andalusia with the label Albox · Local. It does not represent all pilgrimage days or a delivery time.

If you travel from another town, check the programme before arranging your journey. The Saliente pilgrimage is not the Virgen de Gádor celebration in Berja, even though both have their feast on the 8th.

What contribution the organisers need

The shrine’s 2019 programme explains that flowers were received at a designated point rather than left inside the church. It also encouraged donations towards restoration instead of flowers. Those instructions belong to that edition and should be checked again before buying.

These sources do not establish a required species. Our carnation suggestion is for a bouquet accepted by the organisers. If they request another format or prefer a different contribution, follow their request.

Preparing a bouquet for your journey

For example, if your family wants to make a joint offering, ask where it will be received and whether the bouquet should have its wrapping removed. Then agree with the florist on a size you can carry and arrange collection allowing for the journey.

If you will walk part of the route, tell the florist so they can prepare protection and transport. Do not leave flowers somewhere other than the designated point or arrange a delivery without a receiver. Our transport guide helps you prepare a bouquet for the journey.

Which flowers to choose

We suggest flowers that may suit each occasion. Where a custom is documented, we explain it separately. For a personal gift you can choose another flower if you know the recipient will like it more.

Does this occasion apply to all of Andalusia?

This guide refers to the municipality of Albox. You can find it by selecting Andalusia and the Albox · Local label identifies the place of the celebration.

Sources and what they support

How we put these guides together

We consult institutional sources to check dates and customs. For plant facts, we use horticultural sources. Our gift ideas start with each flower’s appearance and the recipient’s taste. A shop link documents a particular offer. It does not prove that a flower is popular or part of a tradition. We keep adding to this selection rather than claiming to cover every species.
