What flowers to bring for Our Lady of Gádor in Berja

Berja · Local

If you want to join the flower offering to Our Lady of Gádor in Berja, tuberoses are a useful starting point because the brotherhood requests them in its 2026 programme. The feast is on 8 September. Confirm when flowers are received and how to bring them before ordering your bouquet.

8 September is Berja’s feast day

The city council describes a celebration on 8 September maintained for over four centuries. This guide refers to Berja in the province of Almería. Gádor is the name of the Marian title and does not mean the event takes place in the municipality of Gádor.

The flower offering appeared on 7 September in the 2019 and 2026 programmes. Those dates belong to their respective editions. For your visit check the current programme and the brotherhood’s instructions, as the calendar date identifies the feast.

Tuberoses following the brotherhood’s instructions

In 2026 the brotherhood especially requested tuberoses for Berja’s offering. That documented connection explains our recommendation. Ask whether they receive individual stems or bouquets and whether there are any preparation instructions.

If the florist cannot source them for your handover ask the organisers which alternative they accept first. You can then adapt your order without assuming any replacement will suit the event.

Order once the handover is agreed

For example, you can order tuberoses for Berja’s offering once you have confirmed the reception date. Tell the florist the accepted format, how many you wish to contribute and when you will collect them. This is a suggestion for arranging your order, not a quantity required by the celebration.

For a delivery agree the reception point and who can accept it with the brotherhood. Check that the florist uses Berja as the destination and take the instructions with you if you go in person.

Which flowers to choose

We suggest flowers that may suit each occasion. Where a custom is documented, we explain it separately. For a personal gift you can choose another flower if you know the recipient will like it more.

Sources and what they support

How we put these guides together

We consult institutional sources to check dates and customs. For plant facts, we use horticultural sources. Our gift ideas start with each flower’s appearance and the recipient’s taste. A shop link documents a particular offer. It does not prove that a flower is popular or part of a tradition. We keep adding to this selection rather than claiming to cover every species.
