Flowers for All Saints’ Day and Vėlinės in Lithuania

Lithuania · Nationwide

In Lithuania All Saints’ Day is 1 November and Vėlinės, remembrance of the departed, is the 2nd. This occasion covers both days while keeping their names distinct. If your family wants to take flowers we suggest chrysanthemums or carnations in a small format. Check the permitted container and placement before ordering.

Guide to adding Agenda Floral to Apple and Google Calendar

Apple or Google decide when to check for updates. We cannot guarantee that changes appear immediately. Importing the file gives you a copy that does not receive our future corrections. Importing again may duplicate events. We do not add alarms, although your calendar may apply its own alerts.

Two dates and a visit you can plan

The government annex listing holidays according to the Labour Code distinguishes 1 and 2 November. Lithuanian Police documents traditional visits to graves during those days. This does not mean everyone participates or has to buy flowers.

The calendar includes the period from 1 to 2 November. Agree the actual visiting day and who will carry or place the arrangement. Access hours or a traffic restriction from another edition may not describe this year.

Choose around the memory and available space

You could choose a flower that reminds you of the person or a simple arrangement fitted to the holder. Chrysanthemums and carnations in this guide are our suggestions. The sources establish no required species or colour.

Before buying measure or confirm the available space and ask the cemetery about permitted containers and materials. If the grave is shared talk to the family to avoid occupying all the space.

Locate the grave before ordering

Vilnius City Council explains that its register can help locate graves. This is a municipal tool rather than a register of every Lithuanian cemetery. Use it to confirm the destination if it is in that city.

For an order from afar agree with someone who will receive the flowers and who will place them. A cemetery address alone does not guarantee that the florist can find or access the grave.

A specific order and an unhurried visit

You could ask: “I would like a small remembrance bouquet for a visit on 2 November. This is the size of the permitted container. Can you prepare chrysanthemums? Please consult me if you change the main flower”. Confirm collection, price and transport.

Check current access and traffic instructions before travelling. The Police’s 2022 measures support planning the journey but are not repeated here as current restrictions.

Which flowers to choose

We suggest flowers that may suit each occasion. Where a custom is documented, we explain it separately. For a personal gift you can choose another flower if you know the recipient will like it more.

Sources and what they support

How we put these guides together

We consult institutional sources to check dates and customs. For plant facts, we use horticultural sources. Our gift ideas start with each flower’s appearance and the recipient’s taste. A shop link documents a particular offer. It does not prove that a flower is popular or part of a tradition. We keep adding to this selection rather than claiming to cover every species.
