Flowers for Our Lady of the Valley in Catamarca

San Fernando del Valle de Catamarca · Local

The December celebration of Our Lady of the Valley culminates on the 8th in San Fernando del Valle de Catamarca. To contribute flowers start by speaking to the decoration team. The Morenita del Valle portal describes different groups for each day and individuals helping with time and money. Agreeing the day and purpose of your contribution can help more than arriving with a finished bouquet. The Easter celebrations have a separate programme.

December and Easter have different programmes

Morenita del Valle’s description places the December celebrations between 29 November and 8 December. This occasion records the 8th with the label San Fernando del Valle de Catamarca · Local. Catamarca is the province used to find it in the selector.

The Easter procession took place on 4 May in 2025 and 19 April in 2026. The lowering ceremony and liturgical day are other events in the programme. Nor should you use the historic coronation date of 12 April as a fixed procession date. Check the programme for another edition. Importing or subscribing from this page includes only 8 December.

The flowers are part of work shared between teams

Morenita del Valle explains that each day a group is responsible for decorating the throne. It also describes individuals contributing time and money to buy flowers. Taking part in this way requires coordination with those preparing the arrangement.

Ask which day and team your help would support and what they need at that point. You might contribute to their purchase or a task they specify. This description does not confirm that you can join without asking or that any bouquet will be accepted on arrival.

Check the place before arranging delivery

The December 2025 programme separates events at the Cathedral, Grotto and Ermita chapel. Do not choose an address simply because they share the same dedication. For a contribution to the Cathedral’s throne agree with its team who receives it and where.

The published Contact channels let you enquire with the portal. You can ask to be directed to the secretariat or flower team about a specific contribution. The Mass-intentions contact serves a different purpose. Sending an email does not confirm a slot or delivery.

Choose flowers after understanding the arrangement

Before buying ask which species, colour and quantity the design needs. Clarify whether they prefer to order with their own supplier or whether you can make an agreed purchase. Your contribution can then fit the arrangement without preparing a centrepiece that needs dismantling.

The cover chrysanthemum is a catalogue reference for rounded flower heads. Carnations offer another shape with ruffled petals. These are options to compare if the team lets you choose rather than required species for the celebration. The image illustrates a flower rather than the Sanctuary’s throne.

An example of a family contribution

For a family contribution you could ask one person to speak to the team. They might say: “We would like to help with flowers for one of the December days. Which day needs support and would you prefer a contribution to your purchase or specific flowers?” Agree the amount or quantity once you know the need rather than judging it from a photograph’s size.

If you are asked to make a purchase give the florist the agreed species and colour. Add the receiving day and ask them to check any substitution before preparing the order. The deadline should suit the team arranging the flowers rather than just when your family can collect them.

Contributing to the throne and supporting a pilgrimage

Joining a procession and helping with floral decoration are separate arrangements. The 2025 programme asked groups to enquire about procession participation. That notice neither books a flower delivery nor confirms participation in another year.

For an agreed delivery explain the journey to the florist and where the stems will have water on arrival. The transport guide helps with protection and waiting periods. To support someone on a pilgrimage you could also agree a gift for their home when they return. They need not carry a bouquet during the walk.

Which flowers to choose

We suggest flowers that may suit each occasion. Where a custom is documented, we explain it separately. For a personal gift you can choose another flower if you know the recipient will like it more.

Frequently asked questions

When is Our Lady of the Valley celebrated in Catamarca?

The December celebrations culminate on 8 December. There is another celebration linked to Easter with the lowering ceremony, seven-day devotion and procession. This calendar occasion includes only December; check the relevant programme for the other events.

Can I take a bouquet straight to the throne?

We do not treat unrestricted reception as confirmed. Morenita del Valle documents daily decoration teams. Ask which team receives contributions and agree the format, day and place before buying.

Is the Easter procession always in April?

No. The 2025 programme scheduled it for 4 May and the 2026 programme for 19 April. Celebrations are organised in relation to Easter. Check the edition you plan to attend; this page does not create a second procession series.

Must I bring chrysanthemums or carnations?

We have not found that requirement in the consulted sources. They are references for comparing shapes. The decoration team should specify what fits its design and how to deliver it.

Do the Cathedral and Grotto receive the same contribution?

Do not assume so. Programmes distinguish their events and places. Identify the arrangement you want to support first and confirm reception with the relevant team.

How we put these guides together

We consult institutional sources to check dates and customs. For plant facts, we use horticultural sources. Our gift ideas start with each flower’s appearance and the recipient’s taste. A shop link documents a particular offer. It does not prove that a flower is popular or part of a tradition. We keep adding to this selection rather than claiming to cover every species.
