St David’s Day in Wales: date and daffodil gifts

Wales · Regional

Wales celebrates its patron saint on 1 March, St David’s Day. The daffodil is one of its emblems and a flower associated with the celebration. Share the day with a small bunch of yellow daffodils and a card. If you want to wear a flower, choose a buttonhole prepared for that purpose.

Guide to adding Agenda Floral to Apple and Google Calendar

Apple or Google decide when to check for updates. We cannot guarantee that changes appear immediately. Importing the file gives you a copy that does not receive our future corrections. Importing again may duplicate events. We do not add alarms, although your calendar may apply its own alerts.

A Welsh date within the UK calendar

St David’s Day, also called Dydd Gŵyl Dewi, takes place on 1 March every year. Agenda Floral lists it as Wales · Regional within the United Kingdom. That label places the occasion in its territory without changing its status as Wales’s national celebration.

To see it, choose all UK occasions or include Wales in your territory selection. The UK nationwide-only option leaves it out. The calendar records the celebration day rather than times for parades or local activities.

Daffodils to give or to wear

Daffodils and leeks are worn as Welsh emblems. For a floral gift I would choose yellow daffodils. A buttonhole suits celebrating away from home, while a bunch with a vase is ready to display when it arrives.

Make clear whether you want a bunch or a buttonhole. Include any preference for a particular variety or flowers grown in Wales in the order.

A simple order and a personal card

You could ask for “A small bunch of yellow daffodils for 1 March with a vase that fits on a side table”. Add your budget and the address if you need delivery. For a meal at home, a low arrangement leaves room to share the table.

Your card could say: “A little yellow to celebrate Wales with you. See you soon for tea.” Adapt the plan to when you will meet. If the gift is to be worn, change the order to a buttonhole and collect it before the event.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a particular daffodil variety?

You can choose yellow florist’s daffodils for this gift. Ask by name if you want a particular variety or origin. A yellow daffodil alone does not identify the Tenby daffodil.

Can I subscribe just to Welsh occasions?

Yes. In the calendar selector choose United Kingdom and one region, then Wales. You can also include Wales alongside UK nationwide occasions in one subscription.
