Flowers for Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico

Mexico · Nationwide

Our Lady of Guadalupe is celebrated in Mexico on 12 December. For an image at home, choose roses in a narrow vase. If you will contribute flowers to a parish, prepare the format and handover around the arrangement being organised.

A vase beside the image at home

Roses have a place in devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe. We suggest red roses to bring colour to the arrangement. Red is a choice for this composition; use another shade if you prefer it beside the image.

Measure the surface for the vase and the space in front of the picture or figure. A narrow, stable container lets you place flowers nearby without covering it. Carnations and lisianthus are alternatives for fitting the small bouquet to that space.

Contributing to a parish arrangement

For a shared arrangement, the person preparing it can say whether loose stems or a finished composition are needed. This changes the order: a wrapped bouquet may need taking apart before it can be incorporated.

Note the colour, dimensions and receiving point and time specified by the team. The florist can then prepare a contribution that fits. The feast falls on 12 December; preparing the arrangement may happen on another day.

An order example with useful measurements

For home you could ask: “I have an image of Our Lady of Guadalupe on a shelf 25 centimetres deep. I would like a small rose bouquet to one side. The vase base is eight centimetres wide and the flowers need to leave the face visible.” Give the available height too.

If you carry the arrangement yourself, hold the container by its base and prepare stable support for the journey. For a shared contribution, label the order with the receiving team’s name and the agreed destination rather than simply addressing it to the parish.

Frequently asked questions

Do the roses have to be red?

Choose another colour if you prefer. We suggest red for this composition’s appearance without assigning it a religious requirement.

Should I take stems or a finished bouquet to the parish?

Use the format the arranger needs. Stems can be incorporated; a finished composition needs its own space.

When should I bring flowers for 12 December?

For a parish arrangement, use the receiving day and time given by the team. Flowers may be needed before the feast itself. For a home arrangement, prepare them when you are ready to place them beside the image.
