Flowers for the Sant Anastasi offering in Lleida
Lleida · Local
Sant Anastasi is celebrated on 11 May in Lleida. To take part in the offering I would choose a small bouquet that is easy to hand over after checking the programme. In 2026 it was announced inside Sant Joan at the end of the procession and open to organisations and the public. Carnations are our suggestion to discuss with the florist. They are not an official flower and those sources establish no required colour.

11 May marks the day and the programme specifies handover
The diocese describes 11 May as the annual date of Sant Anastasi in Lleida. The municipal 2026 programme places the service at Catedral Nova, the procession and the offering on that day. The Full Dominical report confirms the celebration and participation by organisations and the public. This is a local occasion in Lleida rather than an offering shared throughout Catalonia.
Our calendar adds the 11th as an all-day event. It does not reserve a place or set a flower-reception time. The diocese also reports cancellation of the festival and procession during the pandemic. Before planning a visit check the edition you will attend and any changes.
Sant Joan is the location for the 2026 offering
The 2026 programme announced the procession’s departure at 12:15 from Catedral Nova. The offering was placed inside Sant Joan after arrival and the festive groups’ dance. The 12:15 time was for the procession’s departure rather than an exact flower-handover time.
If attending with an organisation ask who coordinates the bouquet and where you will meet. If attending independently check the instructions for the public. With children I would choose a contribution they can hold comfortably and accompany handover following the team’s instructions. Do not place a bouquet on the image yourself.
Order a manageable format without assuming required flowers
Carnations are a catalogue reference to discuss with the florist. You could also consider a rose if it suits the accepted format. The 2026 documents specify no required species or colour for private contributions. Any new instructions should guide your order. You do not need a large bouquet to participate.
For example, you could say: “Two relatives would like to share one bouquet for the Sant Anastasi offering. We will walk there. If small bouquets are accepted, could you prepare one with cultivated carnations and protection that is easy to remove? We would like to approve any substitution before collection.” Agree its size and handover before buying a container or an arrangement that is awkward to carry.
Batalla de Flors is a different activity
The 2026 Batalla de Flors was announced in the afternoon on Rambla Ferran with floats and confetti. This differs from the offering at Sant Joan. Its name does not mean you should buy flowers to throw or that a bouquet intended for the saint is received there.
If you will continue with the programme after the offering think about what you will carry for the rest of the day. For the journey before handover consult the flower-transport guide and explain its duration to the florist. Sant Jordi has another date and gift context. Do not treat its rose-and-book gesture as a rule for Sant Anastasi.
Which flowers to choose
We suggest flowers that may suit each occasion. Where a custom is documented, we explain it separately. For a personal gift you can choose another flower if you know the recipient will like it more.

Carnation
Main flower in our selectionA suggestion to discuss with the florist if your contribution is accepted. It is not an official flower or a required colour for Sant Anastasi.

Red rose
Another option to consider once the format is confirmed. This suggestion does not replace organisers’ instructions or require red flowers.

Sources and what they support
- Ajuntament de Lleida · Programa de la Festa Major 2026, páginas impresas 29–32
Places the 11 May 2026 offering inside Sant Joan after the procession and open to organisations and the public. Separates the afternoon Batalla de Flors with floats and confetti. Does not prescribe species or colour for private contributions.

- Diócesis de Lleida · Ofrenda y excepción durante la pandemia

How we put these guides together
We consult institutional sources to check dates and customs. For plant facts, we use horticultural sources. Our gift ideas start with each flower’s appearance and the recipient’s taste. A shop link documents a particular offer. It does not prove that a flower is popular or part of a tradition. We keep adding to this selection rather than claiming to cover every species.
