The feast on the 7th and flower reception
7 October is the date of the feast in Cádiz. The municipal information also describes offerings during the preceding days. Seeing the occasion on a calendar is therefore not enough to know when you can hand over flowers.
Onda Cádiz’s report for 2026 announced that Santo Domingo would open for the offering after Mass on the 7th. The diocesan programme for 2025 had specified 12:30 for that edition. Check the next celebration’s instructions before booking a delivery. Do not treat those times as a fixed annual schedule.
Why choose tuberoses
The city council describes children arriving with tuberose stems. That specific connection explains this guide’s cover flower. It does not make tuberose compulsory for every contribution or mean it is used the same way at every Rosary celebration.
Its pale flowers grow in fragrant spikes. Tell the florist when you will take them so you can choose a suitable opening stage. UC Davis explains that handling after cutting affects bud opening. A stem with only closed buds does not guarantee flowers will open in time for the offering.
If you join a school or group
Ask the person coordinating participation how many stems each person will bring and whether there will be a shared order. You can then collect them close to the handover and avoid buying flowers that do not fit the activity.
If you want to bring a bouquet independently ask about the reception point and accepted format first. Santo Domingo identifies the place of devotion. This does not give permission to leave flowers at any time or mean deliveries are accepted without someone to receive them.
A straightforward order
For example, if your family takes part with a group first agree on the number of stems and meeting time. Then ask the florist for tuberoses for that handover and arrange collection allowing for the journey. If they cannot prepare the order ask the group which alternative is accepted before changing the flower.
For a private flower gift to someone named Rosario you can choose according to their tastes. That gift does not need to follow the celebration’s format.
Cádiz and A Coruña have separate guides
Both cities celebrate Our Lady of the Rosary on 7 October. Cádiz has a documented children’s tuberose tradition. The A Coruña guide uses its own municipal record of an offering by local groups. Follow the programme and reception point for the city where you are taking part.
Which flowers to choose
We suggest flowers that may suit each occasion. Where a custom is documented, we explain it separately. For a personal gift you can choose another flower if you know the recipient will like it more.

Sources and what they support
- Ayuntamiento de Cádiz · Nuestra Señora del Rosario
Documents the feast on 7 October, devotion at Santo Domingo and children taking part with tuberose stems. Its general account of reception does not replace each edition’s programme.
- Onda Cádiz RTV · Programa anunciado de 2026
The news report of 6 October 2026 announced opening for the offering after Mass on the 7th. It gave no separate reception time and does not establish schedules for other editions.
- Obispado de Cádiz y Ceuta · Programa de 2025
Announced the 2025 offering for 7 October at 12:30. This is evidence for that edition rather than an annual time.
- UC Davis · Tuberose
Describes spikes of pale fragrant flowers. Bud opening depends on postharvest handling and is not guaranteed for every closed bud.
How we put these guides together
We consult institutional sources to check dates and customs. For plant facts, we use horticultural sources. Our gift ideas start with each flower’s appearance and the recipient’s taste. A shop link documents a particular offer. It does not prove that a flower is popular or part of a tradition. We keep adding to this selection rather than claiming to cover every species.
